Ewa Björling is Sweden’s new Minister for Nordic Co-operation

Ewa Björling, Minister for Trade since 2007, also takes on the responsibility for Nordic issues as Sweden’s new Minister for Nordic Co-operation.

Björling is 49-years old and trained as a dentist. She has previous experience with local politics and has been a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and deputy member of the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on the Constitution and the Committee on Education. Ewa Björling succeeds Cristina Husmark Pehrsson.

The ministers for Nordic co-operation are responsible for the coordination of the Nordic inter-governmental co-operation on behalf of the prime ministers. - I see clear links between the Nordic co-operation and trade policy, particularly on the issues of cross border trade and trade barriers. The Nordic countries have a lot in common, for instance regarding globalisation, integration and increased cooperation in tourism, said Björling in an interview with www.regeringen.se.
