Icelanders interested in Nordic collaboration
In connection with the Nordic Council Session 2010 last week in Iceland, the people of Reykjavik had the opportunity to attend a series of cultural events as well as meetings on Nordic cooperation. The meetings have been characterized by good attendance and an enthusiastic Icelandic public. Wednesday morning the subject at hand was where and how to seek support for innovation and research in the Nordic organisations.
New President of the Nordic Council
Henrik Dam Kristensen, a former Danish minister, was elected President of the Nordic Council on the 4th of November in Iceland. The new President wants to strengthen the Region‘s role in Europe and bring Nordic co-operation closer to the people.
Networks of climate researchers: We are stronger together
Strengthening the international impact of Nordic climate research is an important purpose of the Nordic networks in the Top-level Research Initiative’s sub-programme “Effect Studies and Adaptation to Climate Change”. The kick-off meeting for the networks in Oslo last week showed that the goal is already in sight.
Nordic ranks high in international research
According to the Research Barometer 2010 the Nordic countries rank top both in publication of articles and recognition of results. The Nordic Council of Ministers has also initiated measures to promote Nordic research in the EU context.
Successful kick-off for the new researcher networks
40 participants from the 37 new Nordic researcher networks gathered in Oslo 14-15 October for dialogue and networking.
